Rail services are suspended on Great Western Railway between Worcester Shrub Hill and Oxford, and between Worcester Shrub Hill and Gloucester due to the discovery of an unexploded bomb.

There were train delays across parts of the region this morning after an unexploded WW2 bomb was found near the railway in Worcestershire. Police have confirmed the device is to be destroyed in a controlled explosion.

West Mercia Police said: “We were called just after 9am this morning to reports that Network Rail workers had found an object, believed to be an unexploded historic mortar bomb, in a field near to Brockhill Lane and the old Norton Barracks in Norton, Worcestershire. The area has been cordoned off and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) is currently in attendance. A controlled explosion is due to take place at 11.30am.”
