Berlin police have evacuated a downtown area of Berlin including the popular German Museum of Technology after a World War II bomb was found during construction work.

Police reported the area in the Kreuzberg district was being evacuated temporarily as a precaution while experts defuse and dispose of the 100-kilogram Russian bomb.

Are WWII bomb finds common?

Even more than 70 years after the end of WWII such finds during construction work are common in Germany. Such finds also happen in the UK, therefore if you’re in charge of a construction project that involves groundworks, whether it’s humanitarian, governmental or commercial, you need to consider the possibility of there being buried UXO onsite.

This is where Brimstone comes in. We’re proud to be building a better world, from the ground with bespoke solutions to the risk posed from unexploded ordnance. If you are embarking on a new project or have an upcoming site that requires UXO support, get in touch with our dedicated commercial team.
