What is a UXO Engineer?

As a UXO Engineer, you will play a critical role in identifying and safely managing unexploded ordnance that poses a risk to construction and development projects. Your work will ensure the safety of personnel, the public, and the environment. This role is not only about technical skills but also about understanding the importance of safety, precision, and diligence in every operation you undertake.

Role and Responsibilities:

As a UXO Engineer, you’ll be involved in a wide range of tasks, including:

UXO Surveying: Assisting in various UXO surveys, including non-intrusive surveys, drone surveys, and CPT rig operations to detect unexploded ordnance beneath the surface.

On-Site Support: Providing essential on-site support for clients in the form of watching briefs, search and clear activities, UXO target investigations and borehole support, ensuring all procedures are executed safely and efficiently.

Project Management: Collaborating with our Technical and Operations teams to optimise project planning and execution, including monitoring timelines, budgets, and resources.

Client Liaison: Acting as a key point of contact between clients and Brimstone’s office, ensuring clear communication and the seamless progress of projects.

Equipment Management: Taking responsibility for the care and proper operation of specialised equipment, ensuring it is maintained and returned in good condition.

Career Growth: Based on your performance, opportunities may arise for you to supervise or manage projects, further enhancing your leadership skills.

Who We’re Looking For:

We’re searching for driven graduates who are passionate about making a difference in the UXO industry. If you have a degree in Engineering, Geophysics, Environmental Science, or a related field, and you’re ready to take on a challenging yet rewarding role, we want to hear from you.

Key Requirements:

  • Willingness to commit to a 2-year contract.
  • Willingness to regularly travel across the UK and occasionally internationally.
  • A strong interest in UXO and the construction industry.
  • Ideally based in London, Kent, or the Southeast.
  • A full UK driving license.
  • A strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • A keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to safety in all operations.
